May 2, 2004 Minutes of the Directors Meeting ~ Called to order at 11:10 AM
Roll Call: Present: Jim Silva, Christine Silva, Mark Sutherland, Beth Amaral, Tom Moran, Bob Rounds, Nancy Jones,
Neal O’Neill (S), Dave Gebo, Pat Cocozza, Justin Graham, Patricia Welch Absent: Frank Sullivan (S), Skip O’Neill
(S), Pauline Murphy (S), Lorraine Sullivan (S)
Secretary’s Report was distributed. Tom made a motion not to read the report, Neal seconded the motion, and the
motion was passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Beth Amaral read the April treasurer’s report. As of April 30th collections
are at 67%. Nancy made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Pat seconded the motion. Directors were reminded that only
those directors in good standing, having paid their betterment fees are allowed to vote. The treasurer’s report was
accepted as read.
Correspondence:
- Bristol County Savings Bank has requested a copy of our business tax return. Jim Silva will contact a CPA regarding filing
past and present returns.
- An attorney for Edward Grossman, Jr. inquired about legality of betterment fees. A copy of the By Laws will be sent.
- A letter from Board of Selectmen regarding the town meeting and the proposal to the town to allocate $75,000 towards determining
wastewater options.
Spring Cleanup:
Mark thanked Beth Amaral, Nancy Jones, Pat Cocozza, and Bob Rounds who joined him in Annual Spring Cleanup April 17th.
Beth made a motion to rescind the $10 for a burning permit and allocate $40 for the disposal of the bulk items at the transfer
station, Mark seconded the motion.
Entranceway and sign replacement:
Dave Gebo brought more updated versions of the current sign along with a price quote for $1,000 for the sign and posts.
A brochure of cement retaining wall blocks was passed around as an example of material to be used for the base. Measurements
of the existing base will be taken to estimate the material needed.
Road Committee: Dave Gebo gave an oral report of the Vega Paving $17,310 quote for all of Clark Road. The grading project
was also discussed. A special meeting was called for 5/16 to extensively discuss the proposed roadwork with the most up to
date figures.
Beaches: 3rd and Big Beach will be tested prior to Memorial Day Weekend. Neal will put a CLOSED sign on
1st beach. Beth made a motion for the test fee of $230. Christine seconded the motion. Passed by all.
Old Business
Golf Tournament: Mark made a motion to pay a $200 deposit to Heritage Hill to reserve the August date. Tom seconded the
motion. Passed by all.
New Business
Tax Abatements ~ Beth made a motion to allow Seniors 70 or older 20% Max if abated by the town. Nancy seconded the motion.
The motion was passed.
Combine Tax ID numbers ~ Mark to contact Lawyers Clearing House for advice.
Nancy Jones made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:50. Pat Cocozza seconded the motion. All in favor. Meeting adjourned.
