July 11, 2004 Minutes of  Directors Meeting ~ Called to order at 11:10 AM Roll Call: Present: Jim Silva, Mark Sutherland, Beth Amaral, Christine Silva, Nancy Jones, Bob Rounds, Frank Sullivan, Neal O’Neill, Skip O’Neill, Pauline Murphy, Lorraine Sullivan, Patricia Welch, Justin Graham Absent: Dave Gebo, Tom Moran, Pat Cocozza

Secretary’s Report was distributed along with minutes of the Special Meeting, June 23rd. Justin made a motion not to read the minutes of both meetings, Sully seconded the motion, and the motion was passed. The minutes were accepted.

Treasurer’s Report: Beth Amaral read the June treasurer’s report. As of June 30th collections are at 82%. Beth expressed concern about the account breakdown of the payout for the paving project billed not being exactly as voted. Nancy made a motion to accept the breakdown as presented, Sully seconded, motion passed. Mark made a motion to accept the report as read. Pat seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Correspondence:

  1. Russ and Betty Hawkins of Island Rd noted that no work had been done on Island Rd and asked that it be included in this year’s project.
  2. Rosemarie Walsh-Hawes sent an email regarding the forming of a new Road Committee.
  3. A recent issue of the Lakeville Independent has the headline stating "Clark Shores Beaches Closed". Reading the article, Churchill Shores’ beach testing is the issue. The Health Dept. has not closed any of our beaches. Jim Silva will speak to the editor regarding a retraction.

Beautification: Entranceway and Sign Replacement: The sign at the entranceway has been destroyed beyond repair and has been removed. Mark made a motion to remove the remaining posts and leave the area as is until the new sign can be approved and installed. Beth seconded the motion, motion passed. Nancy mentioned that Bob Lucey will be at the General Meeting on July 18 with the survey and proposed signage. Stone from a local stone wall on Evergreen is available for the project.

Road Committee: At a recent Road Committee meeting Mark Sutherland and Beth Amaral were elected Co-Chairmen. Grading Project: Mark made a motion to allocate $4,800 for rental of a grader and a roller for 3 days maximum if needed, @ $1,600 per day from Main Materials. Beth seconded the motion. Motion passed. Beth made a motion to allocate up to $5,000 for recycled asphalt @ $225.00/ load with progress notification to be made to Skip O’Neill after the 10th load. Sully seconded the motion. Motion passed. This work is proposed for the following roads: Shore Ave, 2nd Ave, 3rd Ave, 4th Ave, Evergreen (bottom of Oak down) and possibly Spruce, Orchid, Meadow, Island and Hollis. Up on the Hill Grading: Bill Keneally continues working on roads on the hill. The work done looks great. Merigold Lane and the top of 1st Ave: Mark made a motion to allocate $250.00 for one truckload of crushed concrete for 1st Ave and Merigold. Bob Rounds will spread with his backhoe. No work has been done to this area. Justin seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Beaches: 3rd and Big Beach are being tested weekly. The most recent tests passed with readings under 10… Excellent! Port-A-Potty has been used as a trash bin and the company has threatened to remove. An abandoned boat is on 2nd beach, Justin has agreed to remove with his truck.

Old Business:

Windows have been ordered.

New Business:

Rick Medeiras has been nominated as Director.

Bob Rounds will pick up coffee and donuts for the General Meeting.

Skip made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:00. Justin seconded. Meeting adjourned.
