Topic: Proposed Waste Water System and How to Proceed
Nancy Yeatts passed out a report of the Lakeside Communities / Clark Shores Study. This handout reviewed the results of
the study along with questions that need to be resolved to determine how the plan would move forward. Though a satellite treatment
facility would aid Clark Shores, it would be better to use New Bedford’s Municipal Treatment Plant to service the entire
western shore of Long Pond. The town can borrow money and use grants to fund this project. Nancy emphasized the need to speed
along the process to avoid DEP determining the outcome. She has been visiting various lakeside associations to promote the
ongoing process. Nancy is looking volunteers from Clark Shores for a subcommittee for the study before it is too late. As
far as a timeframe for this project, Nancy hoped to see this accomplished in five years at best.
Many questions were asked regarding the ramifications of the waste water system were discussed. Nancy said that after the
installation property values could increase 50%. Building regulations regarding lot size will still be in place thereby reining
in any "subdivision" type changes to our community.
Bill Garvey of the Board of Health attended and answered many questions. He stated that the BOH would work with the homeowners
with failed septic systems until the sewers were installed. Also, the ongoing Boil Water Order is still in place.
Meeting adjourned at 12:20.
