September 12, 2004 Minutes of the Meeting ~ Called to order at 11:00 AM
Roll Call:
Present: Jim Silva, Beth Amaral, Christine Silva, Nancy Jones, Bob Rounds, Frank Sullivan,
Neal O’Neill, Skip O’Neill, Pauline Murphy, Lorraine Sullivan, Patricia Welch, Justin Graham, Amanda St. Andrews,
Matt St. Andrews, Tom Moran
Absent: Dave Gebo, Mark Sutherland, Pat Cocozza
Secretary’s Report ~ Justin made a motion not to read the report, Matt seconded. The report was accepted unread.
Treasurer’s Report ~ Beth read the report for 8/31/04. We are currently at 87% of collection. Beth will be sending
this year’s delinquents to the collection agency. Neil made a motion the anyone delinquent for two years will have a
letter sent notifying them that a lien will be placed on their property if the betterment fees are not paid. Chris seconded
the motion, motion passed.
Chris made a motion to take $3,000 from Major Road Repair to Snowplowing to cover any shortfall before yearend. Skip made
a motion to accept the report as read, Matt seconded. The report was accepted.
Correspondence ~
Neil Villeneuve of Churchill Shores sent a letter regarding a petition to limit Town Selectmen to a maximum two term (6
year) limit.
Town of Lakeville sent a copy of the original recommendation to boil water, as we had requested.
Beautification ~ Nancy presented Bob Lucey’s estimate of cost to erect the new base and sign of his design. His
estimated cost for the base of field stone, loam, etc is $1,510, and his cost for material for the posts and sign is $200.
Total $1,710. Dave’s estimate of cost for the replacement of the current sign is $1,250. Justin will get an estimate
on the cost of the block base.
Rec Hall ~ Dumpster emptying is on a call basis. Sully made a motion to remove the dumpster, Neal seconded the motion.
Motion did not pass.
Road Committee ~ Nancy is to write a letter to Al, last year’s snow plow contractor, to see if he wants to plow
again this year. Matt will make a sign asking for new bids.
Beaches ~ Port-a-John will be removed for the season. Closed for the season.
Boat Ramp ~ Neal to look into whether a professional locksmith can adapt a new lock arrangement, or if a new gate is
needed. $50 was voted to pay for the estimate.
Jim Murphy Memorial Golf Tournament ~ Jim Silva reported that 16 golfers enjoyed playing in the year’s tournament,
with a profit of $344.00.
Water Study ~ Beth Amaral and Bob Rounds will go to the Water Study from Clark Shores.
Old Business ~
Mail Boxes were issued to all on the list.
Bob Rounds finished work on 3rd Beach.
New Business ~
Amanda asked what can be done about the dirt bikes that roar up & down the streets at all hours. She was directed to
the By-Laws that state that we bide by town laws, and to call the police.
Overflowing dumpsters should be reported to the Board of Health.
